Architectural Tour of Chicago

Notes:

  • Serrated corners on a building create more corner offices which command a premium price, more “perk” offices means every executive gets a view.
  • A small footprint on the ground, tall, narrow and interesting form is more likely to get approved/selected.  These qualities add visual interest to the skyline, keep the airflow circulating, and create a more pedestrian friendly environment on the ground.
  • Just 20 years ago, businesses “turned their back on” the water.  Now water front is being utilized for beautification, walkways…a feature.  They are filling in to create more water walk. Each section of water walk will have a theme.

Was it on a boat? What an excruciatingly boring tour.
